2019 BPRC Christmas Lunch

Our 2019 Cowes Torquay event this year was highly successful. The starts at The Royal Yacht Squadron was witnessed by early morning crowds three deep on The Parade and Cowes Green – bearing witness to the continued public interest in our sport.

The weather was superb and our winner was Drew Langdon with Miles Jennings in Silverline Bullet with an overall speed of 92.7mph.

The added feature this year was the addition of the Cowes to Portland race, won by Markus Hendricks and of course the Cowes Poole Cowes race that proved to be vastly popular.

In all there were well over nearly forty race boats, a great sight in Cowes Yacht Haven. We look forward to seeing everybody again in 2020 for our historic 60th anniversary year.

The weekend kicked off on Friday night with a fantastic buffet dinner in the RYS Pavilion preceded by drinks on the lawn Our annual cocktail party on the Saturday at The Commodore’s House (thank you John Terry, Mermaid Gin and Speciality Breads) was bursting at the seams with all our members who came over to Cowes to join competitors, officials, sponsors and safety teams.

Thanks again to the RYS for letting us hold the Prize-giving on Sunday and for all their help and support whilst being serenaded by the marvellous Medina Marching Band.

Many thanks to our kind sponsors including Susan Powers who has supported us over the last five years, all our organisers and our huge team of helpers for making a terrific weekend. S

pecial thanks to OOD Rob Andrews, Chief Marshall Paul Crabb, safety officer Mark Robinson and his deputies Orry Crews and Bob Milner, and thanks to Richard Salaman. Also our brilliant race sec. Sarah Donahue aided by John Moore.

Please find attached form for our BPRC Christmas Lunch on Saturday 14th December, preceded by the AGM at 12 noon. If you want to attend, please book early. The event is always very popular and numbers – as you are aware – are limited.
